LARP News: Game On
In a recent article published on the College Media Network, on January 26th, 2009, the topic of gaming as a subculture came up. In the article, they talk about the roots of gaming, as well as the roots of Live Action Role Playing, and a campus' solution to an obstacle of gaming space. It also talks about the stigma of gaming and it's relation (or lack there of) in the crimes the media tries to tie it to. I found the article very interesting and noteworthy, so I thought I would post it here.

LARP News: Murder Will Out
White Wolf has released another SAS (Storyteller Adventure System) in PDF. These are like mini-modules that are great for inserting plot lines into a currently running game, or can stand alone as a one-shot or convention run game.
The latest SAS that White Wolf released (January 28th) is Murder Will Out, for Hunter the Vigil. The general idea of this system is that there is a killer lose, and in order to stop it, the Hunters must research the background of the cases. What they find it that it's not one killer, but many, and that there is a dark secret that links them all.
Each system comes with character records, props, and in this system includes hyperlinks to various portions of text, and bookmarks to web pages.
For more information, you can check out the White Wolf site, or you can buy it at DriveThroughRPG

LARP News: The Green Fairy for Cthulhu Live
Skirmisher Publishing (the publishers of Cthulhu Live 3rd Edition) have recently released a script (module) for the Live Action horror game called The Green Fairy. It is set in Paris at the turn of the 19th century where the Bohemian lifestyle rules the night. A murderer by the name of Raptor haunts the neighborhood of Montmartre, leaving it's inhabitants afraid to leave their homes once night falls. Some, however, visit an absinthe bar called "The Green Fairy," a hot spot for artists, whores, and criminals. The module sets up a night of terror in this very bar.

LARP News: Role Models - Movie with LARP!
A new movie is coming out, November 7th, 2008, called Role Models. It stars Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd, as well as Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin from Superbad) starring as our own little knight in foam armor. The basic plot is Scott and Rudd get in trouble with the law, and must do 150 hours of community service with children in order to avoid jail. The kid Rudd gets is a boffer/SCA/LARP freak, wielding foam swords, wooden shields, and sewing felt crests. The trailer looks really cute, and can be found HERE on YouTube.

LARP News: New Changeling: The Lost supplement
So, on October 8th White Wolf released another book for the Changeling: The Lost series called Night Horrors: Grim Fears. So far, the book has not been what I expected (I don't particularly know what I expected) but is rather a collection of beasts and boogies that you can find in the Changeling world. I akin the book to D&D’s Monster Manuals.

LARP News: Long Live the King
White Wolf has released a new, non-Mind’s Eye Theatre LARP called “Long Live the King.” From the looks of it, it looks like it is 1 part LARP, 1 part card game, and 1 part strategy game. Here is the write up White Wolf gives:
Long Live the King (LLK) is a strategic roleplaying game. Or maybe it's a live-action strategy game. Call it either one. It's a strategy game with cards, but instead of sitting at a table in the tradition of typical games, you actually walk around and act the role of a character in the court of the dying king. The goal is to have fun in your role, but also to become the new ruler of the kingdom (you don't really want the king to live very long!).
