So, what will be the setting/era/mood, costume-wise? Will this more mythical/ancient/cultural (i.e. ancient Greeks in togas, ancient Nordic in tunics/furs, etc) or will it be more mythical/modern/cultural, like American Gods and such? Or something else?
Just curious, so we can start working on costuming/props/makeup ideas.

My thinking is kinda a mixture of both. A modern feel, but all these gods are pretty ancient gods, and so they have ties to their traditions. An example would be Aphrodite dressing like a hotty but also having her golden belt, or something along those lines.
I will be getting more of a setting and scenario in the next couple days!

Cool! That would be fun to do costume-wise! I like mixing the time periods and such. _________________ "Everyone's here to have fun. If you're being an a**hole, then someone's not going to have fun. If someone has an idea for a god not on the list, would that be in any way acceptable? I know there was some discussion in the chatroom about why some gods were there, but others weren't, etc. Obviously, GM discretion, but would you be open to ones not on the list, on a case-by-case approval? _________________ "Everyone's here to have fun. Look at me, with all the questions.
Actually, people keep asking me questions about the game and I just get on here and ask you.
So, someone asked if you were going to have a World of Man for this game. I told them that I didn't know. But, they didn't ask, so I am.

LOL.
The only gods/goddesses that won't be on the list are Roman, because the Greek gods and Roman gods are the same; if you'd like to play the god/goddess, but have the Roman name, that's fine. If someone has ideas for other gods, please let me know! I have just picked names from a long list of "love" gods, so other ideas are certainly acceptable. Just PM me with your ideas.
The world of man will be there...kind of. The gods/goddesses will be able to influence the world of man. But (unless someone would like to take on the roles, be assistants to the GM, etc.) I will be a combination of The World of Man, Fate, and Karma. I didn't put those positions up for grabs yet, because I thought that people would more like to play more active roles. But if anyone is interested, we can talk. I get back to PMs quite quickly, and although I'm not always on this chat, I am usually on my Messengers.
I should have some more info (scenario and setting) Tuesday or Wednesday. I've been pretty sick the last couple days so I have to get caught up with work, but then it's Divus Ex stuff after that.

OK, so first, I have to apologize for getting this out so late. We weren't sure who was running this particular game until recently (it ended up being me) and my biggest flaw is taking on too many projects, so I have had to beat down some other stuff before I could start tackling the Divus Ex Stuff. But here it is, some description about what you guys will be playing.
Divus Ex is a game published by Three Fates Gaming, a LARP where you play gods. The game itself is pretty simple, you have 4 stats and 2 powers. Everything is based off Tarot cards. (Everything will also be explained at game.)
Pentacles = Power. This represents your power over mortals, you can build civilizations or cause war.
Chalices = Life. This represents your divinity compared to other gods.
Wands = Magic. This represents the power of magic, fate and whim.
Swords = Attack. This represents your combat ability.
For every attribute stat, there is a reversed. No god can have a stat and a reversed stat (ie. no god can have pentacles AND pentacles reversed).
Pentacles = Power. This represents your power over nature, you can cause great disaster, and great growth.
Chalices = Life. This represents your divinity compared to other gods in a different domain, the domain of the underworld or infernal realm.
Wands = Magic. This represents the power of magic in its most chaotic forms.
Swords = Defense. This stat represents how well you can defend yourself.
Next is your Arcana. I won't list them all here, because they are based on the major arcana of the tarot deck. You will start out with one arcana in the game, and increase to two depending on what you do to help (or hinder) the situation. An example of one of the arcana:
Strength (reversed)
A god with Strength (reversed) may look at any other player's character sheet observing attributes, arcana, and any character notes they may have written.
Other roles in Divus Ex:
The Fate-Decider: the GM. They are impartial, and firm, but may take on any number of personalities.
Chance: the Narrator. Chance is consulted when a decision must be made (the person flips a coin) or on the god's holy day to gain more attributes. However, to gain attributes, you must pay a price... _________________ YIM/MSN: emilie_wyqued AOL: emiliewyqued Twitter: Wyqued Blog: The Asylum Webpage:Wyqued Design

The general scenario is that you are all gods of love, fertility, anything having to do with the emotion of love, and your powers have been waning (gods usually have 2 arcana, but you guys are down to one). You've decided to meet to discuss why this might be and what might be wrong, check in with the world of man, investigate how to get your powers back, and generally check in with each other. _________________ YIM/MSN: emilie_wyqued AOL: emiliewyqued Twitter: Wyqued Blog: The Asylum Webpage:Wyqued Design

hmm this seems interesting and i was looking over some of the left over gods, but as a novies larper (as in i have never been in a larp before) I'm not sure if this would be a good start. Then again Bes seems like a funny little god and i would love to play him. The only thing that is holding me back is the fact that im not experianced and i dont think i could do him justice. _________________ Evil Triumphs when good men do nothing...
You should give it a try. I think this game would be a good one to jump in on, as no one knows for sure what a god's quirks are. The one I have chosen to play I have never heard of before and their is NO Information on the web that I can find other than her name. Who is thier to tell you , "no that's not how that God would act"? Not that any of the players I have met would ever do that anyway. Bes is an Egyption god of marriage, to a people that married brother to sister, obviously a redneck nascar fan. You never know till you try _________________ It's as true today as when I first started gaming. When in doubt, set it on fire

A "redneck nascar fan" Bes would be hysterical!
Tromo, you should totally give this game a try, there really isn't a better way then to just jump in. I'm new to this group, and so far everyone has been very friendly, and very helpful, so I'm sure you'll get plenty of help if you need it.
As for "not doing him justice," I've had similar fears. Really though, everyone is going to be there to have fun, and play the game. Honestly, you should go ahead and sign up, and join in the fun.
